In addition to growing our fleet, 41 North Offshore, LLC has undertaken several voluntary projects to replace engines in three of our vessels with new, cleaner diesel engines.

GRIZZLY (2022): replace Tier-0 main engines with new Tier-3 engines
SITKA (2025): replace Tier-0 generator sets with new Tier-3 generator sets
NANOOK (est 2026): replace Tier-2 generator sets and unregulated bow thruster and fire pump/winch engines with new Tier-3 generator sets and engines

These projects were made possible by funds provided by the EPA Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA).

The following charts provide estimates of fleet-wide annual emissions as well as NOx and PM2.5 emission reductions resulting from the engine replacements.

As a condition of the EPA grants, 41o North prepared an Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP) to consider proactive solutions to control the discharge of exhaust emissions and consumption of fuel from vessels in the fleet.

The AQMP identifies the following:

-
Vessels covered by the AQMP
-
Goals of the AQMP
-
Methods for mitigating exhaust emissions
-
Assessment of technologies including cost/benefits
-

Air quality questions or concerns can be sent to 41o North’s Air Quality Coordinator at info@41northoffshore.com.
